ABOUT PILI PUSHERS

At the foot of majestic volcanoes in the lush rainforest of the Philippines, pili trees have been growing wild for centuries in the backyards of rural homes. Their growth relies on their environment, free from the use of pesticides and chemicals. Their fruits, encased by rock-hard shells, contains nutrient-rich pili nut kernel rich in omega fatty acids, phosphorus, and high levels of protein. Pili Pushers works closely with a community of families to sustainably hand-harvest the pili nuts from their backyards, providing the villagers with an earth-friendly trade as a form of livelihood. The men of the families will climb the trees to harvest the pili fruit; while the women will pre-sprout the pili nuts, peel the skins, and dehydrate the nuts. Through the laborious process of pre-sprouting to start the germination process, and a three-day dehydration phase; the final product is activated, richer in enzymes and has higher nutritional bio-availability.
